Encouragement ... Pass it on!

Hey moms and dads, every Friday we will take the time to hear from one of our directors speak into some of Kanakuk's core values. We want you to hear some of the principals that guide our ministry in the summer.

Today, Joel Dolloff speaks to the value of encouraging a child and our why we emphasize this among our staff ...

When I first began working at Kanakuk in 1998, one of the things I was most struck by was how encouraging of an environment it was. I still marvel at what an uplifting atmosphere exists within these gates. I now know it is one of our core values at Kanakuk to see the best in everyone, just as God does in us through the cross. Unfortunately, we live in a world where kids often feel they are not smart enough, not funny enough, not athletic enough, not pretty enough, and just not good enough. They are torn down by teachers, coaches, peers, and media sources telling them what they should be like and how they are falling short.

It is our desire for kids to see God's unconditional love through us. We want each kamper that walks through our gates to understand God made them exactly as He wanted to and that He has a big plan for their life. By offering a wide variety sports and activities, we get lots of opportunities for encouragement. We set attainable, yet challenging goals before kids so every child can experience success. Our staff encourages through successes and failures, and never tears down. It is our prayer, that at the end of your son/daughter's time here, they will leave with their self-esteem at an all-time high! Thanks for entrusting them to us!

Joel

Thanks Joel! Mom and dad, if you are a former Kamper let us know how you experienced this in your time at Kamp. It's always fun to hear your stories!
